What is 2-factor login authentication?
When you log in to an Aarsleff service, you provide a username and password. There will be situations where login with username/password is not secure enough - e.g. on an external network or login to a sensitive system. In such cases, login must be supplemented with a second factor of authentication. It will not be required every time you log in.
How do you use 2-factor login?
On your computer, you can log in using “Windows Hello”, which can authenticate access to the computer with a PIN code, fingerprint or facial recognition (search for “Hello” on your computer).
On your smartphone, KoncernIT recommends the “Microsoft Authenticator” app, as it provides the best security.
-----------------------------------------
Below you will find a step-by-step guide on how to set up the Microsoft Authenticator app
Step 1: Installing the Microsoft Authenticator app on your smartphone
- Open the App Store (iPhone/iPad) or Google Play (Android)
- Search for “Microsoft Authenticator” and install the app
Step 2: Applies only to iOS devices (iPhone/iPad): Enable passkey function
- Go to: Settings → General → Autofill & Passwords
Make sure:
- “Autofill Passwords and Passkeys” is turned on
- Microsoft Authenticator is selected as the source in the “Autofill from” field
Step 3: Add your Aarsleff account to Microsoft Authenticator
- Start the app and add your Aarsleff account - Tap “+” at the top right and select “Work or school account”
- Select “Sign in” and enter your Aarsleff email address/password
- Tap “Continue” on the “Let’s secure your account” screen
- Turn on “Autofill in Authenticator” if prompted
- Choose to “register your device” and allow notifications
- Your Aarsleff account is now added to Authenticator
Step 4: Select Passkey as the login method (the method is the most user-friendly and secure)
- Start the app “Microsoft Authenticator”
- Select your Aarsleff account
- If “Passkey” is found under “Ways to sign in or verify”, do not do anything.
Otherwise:
- Under “Other ways to sign in”, select “Create a Passkey”
- You will be asked to authenticate with your face, fingerprint or PIN
- The app is now ready to use Passkey
When you are asked to log in to an Aarsleff service, you can now use Passkey. The first time you do this, you may need to set the method as default: tap on “Other login method” and select “Passkey”.
Troubleshooting
- Problem: “Passkey already exists”
- ➡️ Remove passkey/access key in the app (trash), and create again
- Problem: iPhone does not show passkey settings
- ➡️ Make sure you have iOS version 17 or later
- Problem: Android gives error
- ➡️ Often require Android 14 or later
